As 2011 comes to a close,  is recapping the top stories of the past year. It was a momentous year in Daler athletics, full of state, Long Island and county championships and other highlights.

Emily Dorso's RBI double gave Farmingdale the tying run against East Meadow, before Kat Zabielski gave the Dalers the lead for good with an RBI single of her own. It was one of three RBI hits Zabielski had that day.

: All 13 fall varsity teams were named scholar athlete teams by the NYSPHSAA, all earning averages of 90 percent or higher during the season. This is the seventh consecutive season Farmingdale teams have earned this distinction.

Named New York Jets Name Krumenacker Coach of the WeekBuddy Krumenacker became the eighth coach on Long Island to reach 200 wins and was named Coach of the Week for the accomplishment by the New York Jets. He reached the milestone thanks to the Farmingdale varsity football team's 26-20 victory over Valley Stream Central.

: Nadine Hadnagy stole the ball on an errant Uniondale pass, ran the length of the floor and scored on a triumphant lay-up which led the team to the county final.

The Farmingdale girls lacrosse team prevailed once again to claim the Nassau County Class A title over Massapequa. It was their sixth county title in a row, all by way of defeating this same team in the final round.

: Daler alum  helped the U.S. capture its fourth consecutive Federation of International Lacrosse U-19 Women's World Championship in August with a 14-11 win over Australia.

: Two  golfers defied the odds and made history during the NCAA Men’s 2011 Division III Golf Championships, when they made two holes in one in two days.

Three Farmingdale athletes were named 2011 All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

: The Farmingdale Baseball League (FBLI) celebrated its 60th year of baseball and softball this year.
