Cops Injured After Confrontation with 2 South Farmingdale Men

Two South Farmingdale men were arrested early Sunday morning after a confrontation with several Nassau County police officers.

According to eighth squad Detective Bernhardt, officers responded to 39 Spruce St. for a report of an unconscious person at 2:25 a.m. Police said that upon arrival the officers were confronted by Michael Rosen, 22, who tackled and punched the officers while they tried to assist him to a waiting ambulance.

After a struggle the defendant was placed into custody, police said. The father of the defendant, Robert Rosen, 52, then threatened an officer while blocking him from leaving the home and he was also placed into custody.

Michael Rosen was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted and his condition is unknown at this time. Two of the officers were also taken to the hospital, where one was treated for a sprained right ankle and right knee and the another was treated for pain to his right wrist, right elbow and abdomen. After treatment, the officers were released.

Michael Rosen is charged with two counts of assault in the second degree and will be arraigned as soon as practical, police said. Robert Rosen is charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree. He will appear at the First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
