County Clerk Offers Free Service to Veterans

Korean War vets can get their discharge papers recorded for free on June 20.

Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell invites Korean War Veterans to come and record their Discharge Papers conveniently.

On June 20 at 8 p.m., the Korean War Veterans of Nassau County will be hosting an event with the Nassau County Clerk's Office to bring this service to veterans right here in the community.

The County Clerk’s Office records and secures Veterans Discharge Papers (DD-214) free of charge so that veterans and their families may obtain a certified copy (legally equivalent to the original) of these vital records should the need arise.

In conjunction with this service, O’Connell has established the Veterans Recognition Program to show appreciation to veterans for their sacrifices. When a veteran’s DD-214 is recorded they are given a card enabling them to receive discounts on goods and services at participating businesses throughout the county.

The Korean War Veterans Association was established in 1985. Korean War Veterans interested in taking advantage of this County Clerk’s service and learning more about the Korean War Veterans Association are encouraged to bring their Discharge Papers on June 20 to the Levittown American Legion located at 3123 N. Jerusalem Rd, Levittown.
