Farmingdale Athletes Named All-Americans

Three Farmingdale natives were given this honor by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Three Farmingdale athletes have been named 2011 All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

USILA recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes through the All-American selection committee chair for each NCAA division. The athletes are selected for division teams.

TJ DiCarlo, Goalie, Mercy College – DiCarlo, a sophomore goalie, finished the season with a .636 save percentage, with 12.86 saves per game and 7.58 goals against average.  His save percentage and saves per game were both fourth in the NCAA national rankings.

"TJ is a special talent, and a player who is enjoyable to watch play the position," said head coach Steve Manitta. "This All American honor is the result of a tremendous amount of work on his part and is well deserved."

He started all 14 games and led the second-year program to an 11-3 overall record. Earlier this month, DiCarlo earned First Team All-ECC Honors, being named the conference Goalkeeper of the Year.

Division II Second Team All-America

Dan Blau, Junior Attack, Adelphi – Blau is a two-time First-Team All-NE-10 selection, is fourth on the team with 46 points, third in assists with 22, and fourth in goals with 24.

Division II Honorable Mention All-America

Mike Giordano, Goalie, C.W. Post – Giordano, a senior goldkeeper, was awarded with Honorable Mention. C.W. Post completed its season with a 16-2 overall record and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the third straight year. Giordano won 23 of the last 24 games he's started. Giordano shows a .617 save percentage this season.

USILA is an organization comprised of member colleges and universities which sponsor intercollegiate lacrosse for men.
