Farmingdale Babysitter Charged in Plainview Theft

A Farmingdale woman is accused of stealing from her employer in Plainview, pawning the items and converting them into cash, according to Nassau County Police.

On Monday,  charged Lorin Sepetci, 20, of 221 Cherry St. in Farmingdale, with taking more than $3,000 worth of jewelry from her employer's Plainview home over the past eight months.

Detectives with the  said Sepetci was employed as a babysitter by a 33-year-old woman at her home on South Oaks Boulevard.

Sepetci began working for the victim in her home last May and was employed periodically until Jan. 3, police said. During that time, Sepetci lifted multiple items of jewelry from the home and sold them to various pawn shops and jewelry stores, according to police.

Following an investigation, Sepetci was located and placed under arrest without incident. Sepetci is the  charged with stealing from their employers in Plainview. In late December, detectives charged , 23, of 23 Theodore Drive in Plainview, with grand larceny. Those charges were in connection with the theft of jewelry and cash over a three-week period from a Plainview victim's home. Azie was employed by that victim as a babysitter.

Sepetci is charged with felony counts of grand larceny. She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
