Farmingdale Celebrates Fancy FREE Ribbon Cutting

The shop is a non-for profit agency that supports over 3,000 individuals with autism and other special needs.

The community celebrated the re-opening of Fancy FREE Gift Shop and Artisan Center this week.

The shop benefits Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc., a not-for-profit agency that supports more than 3,000 individuals with autism and other special needs. Products are made and sold by those with disabilities to the public.

“At a time when funding for not-for-profit agencies are decreasing in all areas it is important that innovative ideas such as the opening of this boutique be supported by all of us in the community,” Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos said.

The ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Dec. 5 on Main Street. Village of Farmingdale Mayor George Starkie, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, New York State Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino and FREE CEO Robert S. Budd all attended.
