Farmingdale Gas Station Fined for Price Gouging

The station raised prices during Hurricane Irene, said a report by the New York Attorney General.

A Route 110 gas station faces a fine for raising fuel prices during Hurricane Irene, according to the New York Attorney General's office.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman identified the price gouging at the Gulf Gas Station on Route 110 from his 2011 report on gasoline prices across the state, an initiative launched in March to protect consumers in New York. The review resulted in two retailers being charged, one in Yonkers and one in Farmingdale.

"When there are clear violations of the price gouging law, my office will not hesitate to take action and hold violators accountable, and we have done so this year," Schneiderman said in a news release.
