Farmingdale Hosts Ninth Annual Relay for Life

The event will run from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

The ninth annual Farmingdale Relay for Life will take place Friday night on the Great Lawn at

Relay for Life is a fundraiser that benefits the American Cancer Society. Teams walk the track to signify that each step they take is a step closer to finding the cure for cancer.

The opening ceremony is at 6 p.m., where survivors will complete the first lap. At 9 p.m. there will be a luminary ceremony to honor those lost to cancer.

The overnight event will continue with activities like relay idol, a cupcake eating contest and a chinese raffle, all while each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

The night will conclude with a closing ceremony at 6 a.m. Saturday.
