Farmingdale Library Begins New Service

The library now offers 'Book Club in a Bag.'

Avid readers in Farmingdale have a new service at their disposal at the

"Many book club members purchase the books rather than get them from the library," said Library Director Debbie Podolski. "In an effort to reach out to them and encourage others to start a book club, the Farmingdale Library joined a consortium of a few Nassau public libraries that are part of Book Club in a Bag."

Participants in the Book Club in a Bag program get a tote bag that includes ten copies of the same title, a binder with the author's biography and discussion questions and the title on CD or DVD if the book became a movie.

"There are over one hundred titles to choose from," Podolski said "Book Club in a Bag allows the book club leader to borrow the entire bag and distribute the books to the club members so there is no waiting for everyone to get the book."

"I have always known that there are many book clubs meeting in Farmingdale," Podolski said. "We want to make it easy for book clubs to choose a title, obtain materials, and have exciting discussions."
