Farmingdale Man Sentenced to 75 Years in Prison

Gabriel Kinard robbed three men and shot two of them in April of 2010, the Nassau DA said.

A Farmingdale man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison after being convicted of robbing three men and shooting two of them in Hempstead last April.

“This defendant’s violent crime spree demanded the maximum allowable prison sentence,” said Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice on Wednesday. “Our streets are safer with Mr. Kinard locked in a cell.”

It took a jury less than two hours to convict Gabriel Kinard, 24, of nine counts of robbery in the first degree, two counts of robbery in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, two counts of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property.

Rice said that at approximately 3:45 a.m. on April 11, Kinard approached two men at the Nagasaki nightclub on Fulton Street in Hempstead and demanded their jewelry at gunpoint. After the two men complied, Kinard shot one of them in the right leg and fled the scene.

Less than 20 minutes, at approximately 4:04 a.m., Kinard approached two more men outside the Rumba Sky nightclub on Franklin Avenue in Hempstead, and demanded one man’s jewelry at gunpoint. When the victim resisted, Kinard shot the other man in the right leg.
