Farmingdale Ranks Expensive on Real Estate Report

The Coldwell Banker survey was based on home prices in more than 2,000 markets.

A recent survey confirmed what many residents may already know: are high in Farmingdale.

Farmingdale ranked in the bottom half of affordable markets in the Coldwell Banker report, which ranked listing prices for four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes in more than 2,300 North American markets.

In New York State, Farmingdale ranked 122 out of 164 markets. Niagara Falls was named the most affordable market in the state, with an average home price of $60,820, while Ossining ranked the least affordable, with an average home price of $919,986.

The average Farmingdale home price was $473,832. The national average was $293,251 and the New York average was $367,963.  

Farmingdale ranked less affordable than its Levittown (No. 91), Hicksville (No. 98) and Bethpage (No. 105) neighbors, and more affordable than Wantagh (No. 133) and Massapequa (No. 144).

The report was  based on home listing prices of four-bedroom, two-bathroom properties on coldwellbanker.com that were listed between September 2010 and March 2011. Markets included in the U.S. report were required to have at least 10 properties fitting the above criteria within the relevant timeframe.
