Farmingdale State Begins Centennial Celebration

Farmingdale State College's centennial exhibition opens Monday.

is celebrating its 100th birthday with an art exhibition running Jan. 23 to March. 9

The gallery exhibition, titled “Historical Perspectives,” captures the college's rich history as Long Island’s first public institution of higher learning.  Photographs and artifacts will be displayed emphasizing the college's beginnings in 1912 as an agricultural college and its transition into a comprehensive college of applied sciences and technologies.

The official opening will be on Feb. 9 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will feature a welcome by President W. Hubert Keen followed by a special alumni panel discussion including Anthony Mastroianni, Class of 1950; Judith McEvoy, Class of 1960; Joe Egan, Class of 1960 and Rich Lahn, Class of 2004.

Admission is free and the gallery is accessible to persons with mobility impairments. The gallery is located in Nathan Hale Hall Monday through Friday from 9 a.m to 4 p.m
