Farmingdale State Honored at Reception

The college was recognized for its effective industry partnerships.

was recently recognized for its industry partnerships at a reception celebrating Research and Innovation in New York State.

“I know I speak for the campus when I say how proud I am of our partnerships with industry, and especially those forged by the Institute for Research and Technology Transfer in the School of Engineering Technology,” said Farmingdale State President W. Hubert Keen.

The reception was held by SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, The New York Academy of Sciences and The Research Foundation of State University of New York and was attended by elected officials, members of the SUNY Board of Trustees, members of the Research Foundation Board of Directors, representatives of SUNY campuses and others.

Farmingdale State College was recognized for “Working with Industry to Improve Productivity." The reception recognized SUNY’s contribution to research and innovation across regions, covering projects and disciplines that range from nanotechnology, biotechnology, business start-ups, clean energy, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, productivity, community vitality, fashion, agriculture and training.

“A great story is unfolding across SUNY’s 64 campuses,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.  “It’s a story of creativity and bold thinking. It’s the story of the kind of innovation that is saving lives, creating jobs for tomorrow’s workplaces, and laying the foundation for New York as an economic leader for a challenging new century."

Farmingdale State is the largest of SUNY’s colleges of technology, educating about 7,000 students.

“We’re proud to have the opportunity to highlight SUNY’s incredible resource base and proven ability to make a difference in New York State,” said Ellis Rubenstein, president and CEO of the New York Academy of Sciences. “Each of the success stories recognized today is testimony to the tremendous assets that SUNY brings to communities across the state.”
