  • Upkeep tip: "People forget to water their trees which causes sap to build up and then the trees stops drinking. It is important to water your tree well and not miss a day. A fresh cut is important too," owner of Starkie Bros. Mayor George Starkie said.

  • Upkeep tip: "We recommend liquid Prolong to soak up the water into the tree," Ralph's Nursey and Garden Center owner Ralph Demartino said. Prolong is sold at Ralph's Nursery and Garden Center for $2.99 a bottle.

  • Upkeep tip: "Make sure the tree is watered frequently and use the vitamin and mineral supplement that we sell. It feeds the tree and keep the needles plump," Farmingdale Home Depot store manager Frank Carlick said. The vitamin and mineral supplement is sold by the gallon and half gallon at Home Depot in Farmingdale and prices range from $1.97 to $2.97.
