Dear Friends and Neighbors,

In response to the to the Farmingdale Patch from the Guistinos regarding the Carman building drain pipe, I have to say, it saddens me that the Guistinos chose to use the “poison pen” approach and give out distorted information in an attempt to malign others in order to get what they want.

The drainage pipe that they speak of is a matter between neighbors and incorporated in their letter to the editor the Giustinos admit this. The Guistinos have every right to take the Carmans to court if they are unable to resolve the issue privately. Why they choose to drag the village into this matter is unclear to me. All I know is the Village should not have to use your tax dollars to pay for repairs or a lawsuit that is not a Village issue.

I tried my best to mediate the situation but the Guistinos were not satisfied. Because there is a possibility that this issue could end up in court, I was, indeed, advised by council to not respond to any future emails from the Guistinos. It is my nature to help people and trying my best where I can, but once it becomes a potential legal issue, I am given no choice.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Mayor George Butch Starkie
