Lupinacci Formally Announces State Assembly Bid

South Huntington resident receives endorsements from Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

Making his first public statement since being named to the ticket, Chad Lupinacci formally announced on Monday his candidacy for New York's 10th Assembly District.

 to replace Assemblyman Jim Conte who is retiring after 24 years in office, Lupinacci received a flurry of Republican, Conservative and Independence Party endorsements this week.

Currently serving his third term as a trustee of the South Huntington Union Free School District, Lupinacci said he will utilize his experience to address inequities in school funding and to seek mandate relief to provide tax relief to constituents.

“I am excited about the opportunity to represent my family, friends, former and current students and the entire community in the New York State Assembly,” said Lupinacci, in a press release. “As someone who has lived and worked here my entire life, I possess a thorough understanding of the needs of our residents. I will utilize my decade of legislative and governmental experience to make Long Island a more affordable place to live and a more attractive place for job creators.”

A former staff member for Conte and intern with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Lupinacci is a full-time professor at Farmingdale State College and a practicing attorney.

Huntington Republican Committee Chairwoman Toni Tepe said Monday Luppinacci has the work ethic and commitment to the community to change the culture in Albany and enhance the quality of life on Long Island. 

Lupinacci, 33, will face Democrat Joseph Dujmic Jr. of Huntington Station in the November election after Conte  about a week ago due to illness. Conte, R-Huntington Station, has lent his full support to Lupinacci Monday in a news release.

“Chad’s commitment to our community, coupled with his impressive background and work ethic, make him the ideal candidate to represent us in Albany,” said Conte, in a press release.

Suffolk County Conservative Chairman Ed Walsh; New York State Independence Party Chairman Frank MacKay; and Suffolk Republican Committee Chairman John LaValle have rallied their support of Lupinacci in recent days.

“While we are sad to see Assemblyman Jim Conte retire, there is no one better to replace him and serve the constituents of the 10th Assembly District than Chad Lupinacci,” said LaValle.

Lupinacci is a lifelong resident of South Huntington and a graduate of . In addition to his full-time position at Farmingdale State College, he is an adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s College and Hofstra University, where he received his B.A. in 2001 (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), his J.D. from the Hofstra Universtiy School of Law, and his M.B.A. from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.

The state's 10th Assembly District includes the hamlets of Cold Spring Harbor, Dix Hills, Greenlawn, Huntington, Huntington Station, Lloyd Harbor, Melville, South Huntington and West Hills in the Town of Huntington as well as part of Farmingdale in the Town of Babylon.
