Parties Nominate TOBAY Candidates

Democrat and Republican groups announced their endorsements.

Town elections are approaching this fall and local political parties recently released their candidate nominations.

The Town of Oyster Bay Republican Committee held its annual convention last week to announce the Republican slate. The group nominated current Supervisor John Venditto, Councilmen Joseph D. Muscarella and Anthony D. Macagnone, Councilwoman Rebecca M. Alesia, Town Clerk Steven L. Labriola and Town Receiver of Taxes James J. Stefanich. 

The Nassau County Democratic Committee announced its candidates on May 24 at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. The group nominated John Capobianco for Supervisor, Allison McNally, Terence Kelly and Bethany O'Neill for Town Council At Large, Mike Canzoneri for Town Clerk and Karl Viveiros for Receiver of Taxes.

Democrats haven’t held a Town seat in six years. The Democrats said they will target incumbents for spending and debt service levels. Republican incumbents are running on a pledge to freeze Town taxes for 2012 and their collective experience.
