Police: Presence in Area Due to Bethpage Call

911 call from Bethpage extended a search into Farmingdale, police said.

Nassau County Police have confirmed that patrol cars near and Wednesday afternoon were possibly due to a nearby robbery call.

According to spokesperson Jean Deluca, police received a call about a Bethpage robbery at 1:09 p.m.

Boundary Avenue up through Farmingdale was being patrolled because of the call and an arrest was made in the area, she said. No other information was available at this time.

The incident coincided with dismisal at Farmingdale High School and later Woodward Parkway Elementary School and parents said they were concerned about why there was a heavy police presence in the area.

"I was driving home from Farmingdale High School and witnessed three cop cars searching a sedan on 1st Avenue," said parent Kristin Hayes. "One block from the elementary school and about eight blocks from the high school."
