Police Seek Tips for Pharmacy Crime Wave

The burglary occurred on Aug. 27 at 1111 Broadhollow Road. According to police, the suspect broke a rear glass door to gain entry into the pharmacy. Once inside, the suspect took an undetermined amount of medicine and other items.

Law enforcement officials are offering a reward of up to $5,000, donated in part by Purdue Pharma L.P., for any information that will help solve this crime.

Purdue Pharma L.P. operates RxPATROL, a collaborative effort between industry, pharmacists and law enforcement to collect, collate, analyze and disseminate information on pharmacy theft. A series of three pharmacy thefts in the Suffolk County area - in Farmingdale, Huntington and Farmingville- has prompted the pharmaceutical company to collaborate with local the Crime Stoppers unit and offer three $5,000 rewards.

“It’s important for people to know that all information that we get is kept completely confidential,” said Crime Stoppers Vice Chairman Loring Miller. "Callers never have to give their names or appear in court. The Crime Stoppers tip line does not use any tape recording or caller ID devices."
