Report: Farmingdale-Based Radio Stations Being Sold

Plans for the Long Island Radio Group were announced this week.

Several Farmingdale-based Long Island radio stations may be sold to a Connecticut-based media company, Long Island Business News reported this week.

The radio stations, WKJY 98.3 FM, WBZO 103.1 FM, WIGX 94.3 FM, and WHLI 1100 AM, are in the process of being sold by their parent company, Massachusetts-based Barnstable Broadcasting to Westport, Conn.-based Connoisseur Media for $23 million, LIBN said. The deal was announced Monday and is expected to close this summer.

All of the Long Island Radio Group’s stations have studios located in Farmingdale, except B-103, which operates out of Bay Shore.

Long Island Radio Group General Manager Dave Widmer told LIBN he was looking forward to the change in ownership.

“I’m proud of what we have accomplished with Barnstable Broadcasting on Long Island over the years and I am excited about continuing that effort and working for a company like Connoisseur Media who has a well- known, deep commitment to the communities it serves, its customers and its staff,” Widmer said.
