Resident Announces Candidacy for Farmingdale Village Mayor

Georgiana Sena will run for Village of Farmingdale mayor in the March 2012 race.

Farmingdale resident Georgiana Sena has announced she will run for mayor as the Village Independent Party candidate in the March election.

“I want local business to thrive in our community since that will improve the village’s economics and improve the quality of life for all our residents,” Sena said.

As a Farmingdale resident and homeowner, she has been involved with local civic, charitable and political organizations for more than 20 years. According to Sena, she is running on a platform of "restoring pride, respect and integrity to village government," who will "work to find solutions to the serious problems that currently plague Farmingdale’s business community."

Sena has worked in law and management services, is involved with the Kiwanis Club of Farmingdale and Long Island Cares and is the editor of Eye on the Village, a Farmingdale watchdog publication.

She says that "despite prior campaign promises, the current administration has simply watched rose to 25 percent" and that she will put an end to the current administration’s "excessive ticketing of cars which sends people to other communities to shop and dine." She also wants to appoint an independent ethics board to make sure citizens concerns are placed above political patronage.

Sena’s running mates for the two open trustee positions are Michael Manchin, a retired Nassau County police supervisor and U.S. Army veteran with experience in business and banking, and Susan Miles, a third generation village resident with international business expertise and three children in the

Village elections will take place on March 20, 2012. The positions are currently held by Mayor George Starkie, Trustee Ralph Ekstrand and Trustee William Barrett.
