Shop Local on Small Business Saturday

Support the local economy this holiday season.

 

Thanksgiving weekend has long been home to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For the second year, the weekend is now hosting Small Business Saturday, a day residents can support local businesses.

Farmingdale is full of small businesses. Browse the list below and for a full list explore the places section of the site.

C & C Skate Factory: The shop carries an array of extreme sports gear and accessories. C & C also has its own custom skateboard and clothing line. Merchandise can be viewed online. Hours: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

    Starkie Brothers Garden Center: Since 1973, brothers Butch and John Starkie have served Farmingdale's gardening and landscaping needs. The garden supply store and plant nursery offers gifts, decorations and more. Hours: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

        Solo Fashion Outlet: The store is a teen and women's clothing store that carries sportswear, casualwear and formalwear, including dresses, suits, accessories and more. Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

        The Chocolate Duck: This is an idyllic spot for all chocolate lovers and chocolatiers. The shop has chocolate and cake molds for any occasion, including thousands of candy molds, pretzel candy molds and lollipop molds. Bake your gifts this year or buy the ready made version at this store. Hours: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

          Restaurants: Gift certificates are always a hit at the holidays. Treat your family and friends to meals at local restaurants like Kodiak's, Library Cafe, Caracara Mexican Grill, Lotus and more.

          It's so sad to see all the vacant store front's, I will really make an effort to shop there this holiday season.

          You forgot the Well Care Drug Store next to Guinta's Meat Farms. I plan to switch my wife and I prescriptions to them to compete with CVS and Walgreens.
