State Police: Pounds of Marijuana Tossed from Vehicle

Wyandanch man charged after pursuit through Farmingdale.

A Wyandanch man was arrested this week by New York State troopers and charged with drug, driving and other felonies.

On Monday at 8:45 p.m. Trooper Nolan stopped a gray Nissan Maxima driven by Clive Ruddock for swerving out of his lane of travel driving westbound on the Southern State Parkway near Wellwood Avenue (Exit 35). According to the report, Ruddock stopped briefly before accelerating and fleeing westbound on the Southern State Parkway.

After a two mile pursuit, the vehicle struck Trooper Nolan's patrol car, then lost control before stopping on the parkway shoulder near Bethpage Parkway, police said.

After a brief foot pursuit, the driver was taken into custody. According to police, Rudock was tossing approximately two pounds of marijuana from the vehicle and possessed a fake social security card.

Ruddock, 46 of Wyandanch, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana, possession of a forged instrument, criminal mischief (for damage to the patrol vehicle), tampering with physical evidence (for tossing marijuana from a moving vehicle), fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and traffic violations.

According to police, the defendant was previously a deported felon for marijana possession and re-entered the U.S. illegally. Ruddock was held for arraignment in Suffolk County First District Court.
