Summer LIRR Schedule Starts Monday

Information about summer improvements and schedule changes on the LIRR.

The LIRR will switch to its summer schedule starting May 16, which will stay in effect until September 11.

Times on all LIRR lines are slightly adjusted and call me accessed here. Line maintenance work part of the annual warm weather maintenance program is scheduled for off-peak periods, such as midday during the week and on weekends, to minimize the impact on commuters during the morning and evening project.

Projects on the lines include the installation of new railroad ties and the resurfacing of switches on the Main Line and Atlantic branches, the MTA said in a statement.

Other enhancements include the addition of a Hicksville stop (at 6:19 a.m.) to the schedule of the westbound 5:42 a.m. peak train from Ronkonkoma, allowing customers to transfer for local service west of Hicksville station.

Work will also continue on longer-term programs, like the East Side Access project that will eventually bring LIRR customers to Grand Central Terminal.

This summer service to Belmont Park was restored this year through a partnership with the New York Racing Association (NYRA). For details on Belmont service, customers can pick up a copy of the special Belmont timetable at terminals and local stations or access schedule information on the LIRR website.
