A Thanksgiving Dinner for All
Farmingdale Christian Church will host a free Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.
For more than 25 years, the on Main Street has been hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the local community.
"There are a lot of people who don't have a good meal and many others who are simply alone for the holiday," said Frank Howell, a member of the church involved in organizing the dinner.
Howell said the church used to have a soup kitchen every Friday night until about 15 years ago, and hosting the Thanksgiving meal began just as an extension of that service. Today, the at the other end of Main Street hosts a soup kitchen on Sundays and all the area churches encourage parishioners to donate to the on Conklin.
