The Town of Oyster Bay, Friends of the Bay and the Oyster Bay Power Squadron will join forces to sponsor the annual Oyster Bay Harbor Fall Cleanup Day on Sept. 17.

“The fall harbor cleanup is a popular event, with volunteers and Town employees rolling up their sleeves (and, in some case, pants legs) to conduct a thorough cleanup of beaches and shoreline areas along Oyster Bay harbor,” Supervisor John Venditto stated. “While some people walk along the shoreline collecting debris, others work from boats, picking up trash and even discarded boats."

Volunteers are needed for the cleanup, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interested individuals and groups can get further information by calling the Town’s Department of Environmental Resources at 516-677-5711. Volunteers are also welcome to sign up the day of the event. The central meeting place will be Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park launching ramps, Larrabee Avenue, Oyster Bay.

The fall Oyster Bay Harbor Cleanup is recognized as one of many coastal cleanups taking place around the world as part of The Ocean Conservancy’s 26th Annual International Coastal Cleanup campaign.
