Two Men Caught Stealing Tires in South Farmingdale

The defendants are accused of thefts across Nassau County.

Two men were arrested in South Farmingdale Tuesday on charges of committing multiple thefts throughout Nassau County over the past three months.

According to detectives, Shane Regis, 21, of Muttontown, and David Nam, 23, of Bayside, stole tires and rims in at least six different incidents starting in March of 2011.

The men were observed by a witness in South Farmingdale on Tuesday kneeling beside a 2005 Subaru on Carmans Rd. and Fortesque Gate. Police said the vehicle was up on blocks and missing all four tires and rims before the defendants fled in an Infiniti.

Second Precinct cops stopped the vehicle on Jericho Tpke. The tires and rims were recovered and the defendants were arrested.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the defendants were involved in other larcenies of car parts.

Regis and Nam are each being charged with four counts of grand larceny 4th degree, three counts of grand larceny 3rd Degree, criminal mischief 3rd Degree, possession of burglar Tools, operating a motor vehicle without inspection certificate, operating a motor vehicle with broken glass and unsafe turn/failure to signal.

Both defendants will be arraigned on Wednesday in the first district court in Hempstead.
