VIDEO: Black Friday in TOBAY

Shoppers were out on Black Friday taking advantage of the extra hours and discounted prices.

This year, shoppers from around the Town of Oyster Bay didn't have to wait until Friday morning to snatch up Black Friday deals.

Stores like opened at midnight and stayed open for 24 hours, which made for happy customers and some not so happy staffers.

“We had a couple of people saying, ‘Why do we have to come in,’ but most have been really receptive,” Farmingdale Target logistics manager Douglas Cristales told The Wall Street Journal.

Within five minutes of opening, 50 46-inch televisions were sold at Target on Thanksgiving night. Stores remained busy around town from Westfield Mall up to the Woodbury Commons on Friday morning.

Nassau County Police were at several locations handing out shopping safety tips for the holiday season, some of which include not carrying too much cash and or too many shopping bags.
