Video: Fly Without Leaving the Ground

Take the pilot's seat in the full motion flight simulator at Nassau Flyers this weekend.

You may not be a pilot flying in the this weekend, but you can get a glimpse at what they do at the full motion simulator at Nassau Flyers.

The simulator uses software and other technology to re-create a flight environment. It is used for pilot training and is often a more economical way to obtain hours needed for instrument ratings, for pilots to keep skills sharp and a way to prepare for emergency conditions.

Captain Daniel Weiss, a pilot for Southwest Airlines, and his wife Donna, a flight attendant for Southwest, own the simulator and lease it to Nassau Flyers. For more than 31 years Nassau Flyers has been offering flight training, airplane rentals, flying lessons and aviation services in Farmingdale.
