VIDEO: Tuesday's Garage Fire in Farmingdale
Man burned in the blaze is stable on Wednesday.
The responded to a heavy garage fire on Columbia Street off Conklin Street at around 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
Firefighters were met with heavy fire coming through the roof of the 1.5 story garage and treated a man who suffered a burn. They had to use tower ladders to reach the fire on the rear right side of the roof. Ten fire departments were called to the scene to assist, including and North Amityville and the fire was controlled around 9 p.m, with no other injuries were reported.
According to police reports, a man was repairing a car in the garage when a gas tank fell. The fire ignited when contents from the tank hit an electric light on the floor. Firefighters said the man burned his leg trying to put out the flames and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with non life-threatening second-degree burns.

The man is in stable condition on Wednesday in the burn unit at Nassau University Medical Center, a spokeswoman said. The blaze destroyed the garage, including two cars and supplies.
