Weigh in on Storm Preparedness

We had quite a storm on Wednesday. 

Actually, a series of storms passed through the area throughout the day, but a particularly strong one pounded Long Island with heavy rains and even hail during the early afternoon hours.

There was flooding, street closures and power outages in the aftermath of the storm.

It got us to thinking about preparedness. While there are days of warnings sounded prior to a hurricane, quick but strong storms can catch us by surprise.

Nassau County officials advise having disaster kits available prior to emergencies with things such as flashlights, batteries and water available.
