Whiz Kids: Farmingdale High School DECA Participants

Each week we are honoring Farmingdale students doing great things.

Accomplishment: Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is an international association of students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales.

After attending the Nassau County Regional Role Play competition at Molloy College in Rockville Center, these Farmingdale DECA students qualified and attended the DECA State Career Conference in Rochester from March 8-11. 

Alicia Baccarella, Samantha Coffin, Julia Callan, Jessica Locavare, Rachel Tropiano, Patrick Lively, Dustin Feynman and Robert Ginsberg all previously qualified for states in their respective role play events at the Nassau County Regional Competition in January.  At the state competition Saniya Khan, Thomas Pich, Abraham Makkawi, Christopher Abel, Alexander Melton and Kelly Conway all received top ten honors.  Adam Makkawi and Sami Turetsky placed fourth overall in the Business Law and Ethics team event and have qualified to compete at DECA's International Career Conference next month in Orlando.  Adam Makkawi, Saniya Khan and Thomas Pich were all named to the DECA National Honor Society.

Thomas Pich was also awarded a $1000 scholarship from DECA, which will be presented to him in Florida.
