Holiday Guide: Donate to Local Charities

Charities around Farmingdale are accepting donations of all kinds.

During the Christmas hustle and bustle it is easy to forget those who are less fortunate. Local charities need help during this season and all year round and contributions of any size are appreciated. Take a look at the organizations in and around Farmingdale seeking donations.

During the entire month of December the Outreach program is accepting hats, coats, gloves, scarfs and any other winter garment. Items can be dropped off at the church.

: 248 Main Street (516) 293-2195
All proceeds from the sales at this Main Street store go to FREE (Family Residences and Essential Enterprises), a program that helps people with mental challenges and developmental disabilities.

Firefighters Charitable Foundation: 1 West Street (516) 249-0332
This charity assists fire and disaster victims, supports volunteer fire departments, and sponsors outreach programs for fire safety and first aid education and delivers grants to other charitable organizations that help victims of fire. Call to make a donation.

: 70 Acorn Lane, Levittown
Donations to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Long Island provide program funding for youth mentoring. Items needed include clothing, shoes, bedding, draperies, houseware, toys and appliances. Call the donation line at 631-234-000 to arrange a pickup.

Salvation Army:
The Salvation Army bell rings loud outside of Giunta's Meat Farms on Route 109 in Farmingdale. Donate your spare change after holiday food shopping to help benefit the many programs the Salvation Army sponsors.

At the Methodist Church they provide meals to senior citizens in town and are accepting food donations.
