Patch Picks: Five Local Non-Profits

Tune in each Thursday at 3 p.m. to see our picks each week on different topics.

Each week we highlight editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more. This week we're listing five area charities that we think stand out.

  • : Every sale from this store goes completely to Family Residences and Essentials Enterprises. This store provides jobs and opportunities for community members with disabilities to gain job skills and confidence.
  • : St. Kilian's provides assistance to those struggling in the community. They give out , clothing and other supplies for daily use.
  • The Epilepsy Foundation: The quaint house at the end of Main Street houses some of the most special people in town. Behind doors, participants receive expert care.
  • : This is a grassroots organization dedicated to research, lobbying, public education and policy analysis. Citizens Campaign for the Environment focuses on a wide variety of issues, including drinking water, land preservation and pesticide reduction in the Farmingdale community and beyond.
  • : Although not completely not for profit, the Girl and Boy Scouts use their funds to enhance the area.

All of these organizations contribute to the community in different ways. Any donation in any form is accepted and always appreciated.
