Polo at the Park Begins this Weekend

Bethpage State Park will host USPA matches on Sundays this summer.

Farmingdale residents don't have to travel out east to enjoy a USPA Polo Cup Match this summer.

The Country Farms Polo Club is hosting "Polo at the Park" every Sunday from June 5 - Oct 15 at The event will feature high level professional polo matches performing techniques used  by some of the best players in the world.

Gates open at 1 p.m. and polo begins at 3 p.m. Food is available throughout the matches and half-time shows will occur at some of the them. Trophies will be awarded at 5 p.m.

There is an $8 parking fee for all park visitors and then ticket prices vary by location. Field level ground seats are free for children 12 and under and $5 for adults. Ground seating is $10 per person. There are also V.I.P. packages available.

Events planned this summer include the Rallye High Goal competition on July 3 and July 10 and the La Martina Fashion event on Aug. 7.

Polo has been played on Long Island since 1934, but the last time the USPA held their cup on Long Island was 1994.
