Farmingdale State Hosts Cultural Festival Saturday

Celebration of many cultures at Roosevelt Hall from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Farmingdale State College is hosting a multinational cultural festival Saturday at the college.

The event, slated from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., will showcase the  the heritage and traditions of Japan, Italy, Korea, Guyana, India, Taiwan, Guyana, Thailand, Haiti, the Philippines, China, Turkey and several Spanish speaking countries.

Sponsored by the Town of Huntington, Farmingdale State College and the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. Opening ceremonies begin at 12 noon and will feature the Lion Dance, Korean drummers, cultural costume parade and honor guard.

Welcoming remarks will be made by Dr. W. Hubert Keen, President of Farmingdale College; Leg. Dr. William Spencer; Assemblymen Andrew Raia and Chad Lupanacci; David Chang of the Taipei Cultural Center.

Live performances throughout the day by J-Pop, classical and contemporary musicians, singers, dancers, artists and cultural booths.

Children’s workshops include Snake Lantern Assembly – to celebrate the year of the snake (Taiwan), Japanese Origami, Water Color Painting (China), Diva & Henna (India) and Flower Painting using a variety of vegetables (Philippines). Corporate and small vendors will be participating as will several traditional and ethnic restaurants in the outside Food Court.
