Chipotle Mexican Grill Will Bowl You Over...With Flavor

The Burrito Bowl is a tasty dish with a South of the Border kick.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, located on Route 110 in Farmingdale, specializes in burritos and tacos and...well, that's just about it. But there's a tremendous variety available within that limited menu, thanks to Chipotle's patented assembly line-style production, where you call the shots on what ingredients you want while a helpful employee assembles your meal to your specifications.

The company is also known for it's use of organic, all-natural ingredients, so with Chipotle Mexican Grill, you can be reasonably sure that your diet can remain intact if you should choose to dine there. It doesn't hurt that the grub is tasty as well.

Overview: Chipotle Mexican Grill employs a minimalist, industrial-style decor, with lots of steel, exposed ductwork, and sparse decoration. Both booths and stand-alone tables with stools are available, as is out-door dining. Overall, it's not a warm and cozy place, but getting the customers to hang out once they're done eating doesn't really appear to be their priority. But that's not why you go there, anyway...you go there for good food.

Drinks: Soda and beer pretty much covers what you can order there to drink. Since it's bathing suit season, we had a Diet Pepsi.

Appetizers: No such thing at Chipotle Mexican Grill, unless you consider chips an appetizer, which of course is your right to do.

Entrée: We tried out the tried and true Burrito Bowl: essentially a Burrito without the flour wrap, serves in a cardboard-style bowl. Customers get to choose exactly what is and isn't in their meal, directing the employee behind the counter to construct their own unique culinary concoction. For our Burrito Bowl, we choose rice, black beans, chicken, spicy red salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese, and lettuce. This combination of ingredients complimented each other perfectly; for example, the sour cream helped tame the powerful red salsa to tolerable levels. The chicken was tender, the black beans firm and juicy, and the rice light and fluffy. As a whole, our Burrito Bowl made for quite the enjoyable dining experience and the portions were more than adequate.

Overall Experience: Chipotle Mexican Grill is all about the food, and not so much about the experience of eating it. The restaurant is designed with the express purpose of giving you a place to quickly and efficiently consume your food and leave. But when your food is as delicious and nutritious as theirs is, simple things like a lack of atmosphere can be given a pass. If you're hungry and craving some healthy food with a kick, Chipotle Mexican Grill is for you.
