EAC's Meals-on-Wheels Earns Walmart Grant

Farmingdale Store assists with gaining $1,000 grant.

EAC's Meals-on-Wheels Program received a grant of $1,000 from the Walmart Foundation with the help of the management team from Walmart's Farmingdale location.

EAC delivers nutritious meals to homebound elderly residents of Westbury, New Cassel, Valley Stream and Carle Place. Since EAC’s Meals-on-Wheels began in 1989, over 2,000,000 meals have nourished frail and sick senior citizens.

More than just food, Meals-on-Wheels drivers and volunteers deliver much needed friendship to those whose age and health have left them feeling isolated and alone.

“We are thankful for our friends at the Farmingdale Walmart”, said Carol O'Neill, EAC Regional Director of Senior & Nutritional Services. “They are good community partners and understand how important it is to support our homebound senior citizens."

EAC is a leading social service, not-for-profit agency, providing a broad array of educational, vocational, counseling and criminal justice services. EAC’s network of 70 programs protect children, create opportunities for seniors, and provide alternatives for people with substance abuse and mental health needs. EAC effectively helped more than 574,500 people last year.

Hate to sound like an old woman, but when it was Von Leeson's it was always a joy to be there. AllRead More the staff had been there for years and treated the customers like family. Food was consistently good and they never "ran out" of anything. This place shouldn't be open for business. The poor kid waiting on us last time had to come to me and tell me they had no dessert to have with coffee other than ice cream. We left him a nice tip and I told him to find a job somewhere else; he'd never make any money there. It's a great location. We just need some smart business people to run it!

. This place is just not good. There is nothing appealing about poor service and absolutely horribleRead More food. It should have stayed closed when it went out of business not long ago. I hope the employees can find another means .
