Empty in Farmingdale: Former Fitness 2000/Image Sun Tanning

Tell us what you want in the vacant Fulton Street Plaza stores.

Walk down Main Street or drive down Route 110 and Hempstead Turnpike and you will notice many boarded up storefronts adorned with "For Rent" signs, an indication of the hard times the area -- and country -- are facing.

The Village of Farmingdale mayor and board of trustees  they hope will  and fill the empty sites with businesses and housing.

Over the next few months, Farmingdale Patch will spotlight these vacant properties to foster discussion in the community on what can, should and could be done to rehab these abandoned places.

This week's property is in the Fulton Street Plaza, #95 and 97. These locales used to be the home of the Fitness 2000 gym and Image Sun tanning salon. The gym has been gone for over a year, and the tanning salon closed five months ago. Both properties feature a basement, and the salon also has a mezzanine level.

The gym space (95) is 10,250 square feet and can be rented for $20/foot, which breaks down as $10 for the rent and another 10 for extras such as taxes and insurance.  The salon features 2600 square feet and goes for $25/foot plus $10/foot for the extras.  The spaces can be combined for one large retail space if desired.

Sabre Real Estate, which manages the whole plaza, is handling the listing. Contact Amanda at (516) 874-8070 for more information.
