Hooters to Open July 10

Wing chain pushes back Farmingdale grand opening along Route 110 corridor.

Hooters is still coming to Farmingdale, but its planned grand opening has been pushed back to July 10.

Store General Manager Hector Rodgriguez, citing pending health permits and inspections, confirmed the sports bar known for southern-style chicken wings will not open Friday, as previously reported.

That hasn’t dampened anyone’s enthusiasm. “We’re very excited,” said Rodgriguez, who was previously director of operations for the Strix Restaurant Group, which managed three Long Island Hooters locations before shuttering them in 2012.

Eight months after the Smith St. location was closed and rebranded as Bud’s Ale House, Hooters will return to the same building and with more entertainment options, according to Colin P. Parker, Director of Operations for franchisee Hooters of New England/New York.

And much of the same staff.

“It means a lot,” Rodgriguez said of being able to reunite former Hooters employees. “It’s a happy thing. It’s a good staff.”
