Lessing: It starts with the building itself.  We recreated an old library with 29 foot ceilings and designed a warm and rich restaurant with a Manhattan feel in downtown Farmingdale.  Then we have our freshly prepared American food and affordable prices.  Our libations are renowned with fresh squeezed juices for martinis, margaritas and mojitos.  Our Craft beer list offers a wide range of local beers including our own crafted by Blue Point Brewery - Lessing's Local Ale. Finally, we offer over 20 wines by the glass from all over the world

What is the best/worst thing about running a business on Main Street?

Lessing: The best thing about running a business on Main Street is that you feel part of the community. It's about being a good neighbor. The worst thing is that you compete with the big chains up on the larger highways.

What is your busiest time of the year?

Lessing: Our busiest time of the year is right now. What we call it OND - October, November and December.

What is the hardest part of running a restaurant in Farmingdale?

Lessing: The hardest part of running a restaurant in Farmingdale is trying to provide our customers with plenty of parking. Also, it's important to have a thriving village.  It hurts to have empty storefronts.

What is the most rewarding part of being part of the Farmingdale community?

Lessing: The most rewarding part of being part of this community is the people - our customers, local government and local employees.  There is a genuine caring about making this great village a vibrant place to go to and live in.

What are your most popular dishes?

Lessing: Two of our most popular are our delicious chicken bruschetta and our  tasty skirt steaks.
