Readers Choice: Best Catering in Farmingdale

Memorial Day weekend is about tangy backyard barbecue and sweet cole slaw. But what if you can’t make it all? We want your pick for catered food joint.

Sides of mac and cheese, potato salad and cole slaw go great with any family get together. So do trays of penne alongside sausage and peppers. That’s a Long Island feast done Italian-style.

Whatever your preference, Memorial Day weekend is all about backyard gatherings of friends and family. But whether you fire up the Weber grill or channel your inner Martha Stewart, preparing the entire banquet may be too much to handle.

You’re in luck. Quality caterers abound, from the local meat market and deli to the neighborhood restaurant or grocery store.

Time to weigh in. Farmingdale Patch is looking for the best catered food in town. Readers’ Choice is a new weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – this week it’s catered food – and ask for your recommendation. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Then vote. Readers' Choice winners are all up to you, so it's important not only to vote below, but also be sure to share this contest with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. Voting closes Friday at 9 a.m.

Friday we’ll announce our winner.

Our nominees:

I would like to nominate Main Street Caterers/Stuff a Bagel. Hands down they put all the others to shame. I have used them to cater small events (6 people) to over 150+ and they always come through. The food is great, presentation is always perfect, service with a smile. People hear bagel store and don't realize how much more they have to offer. Check out their cakes!!! The best thing about Stuff a Bagel is they always look out for our town and help in anyway possible. During the holidays they adopt children to shop for and serve dinner. They really always go above and beyond. For these reasons and so many more I would like to not only nominate them but tell anyone looking for a caterer to try Main Street Caterers. I promise you won't be disappointed:) Check it out for yourself!! http://www.stuffabagel.net/

Hate to sound like an old woman, but when it was Von Leeson's it was always a joy to be there. AllRead More the staff had been there for years and treated the customers like family. Food was consistently good and they never "ran out" of anything. This place shouldn't be open for business. The poor kid waiting on us last time had to come to me and tell me they had no dessert to have with coffee other than ice cream. We left him a nice tip and I told him to find a job somewhere else; he'd never make any money there. It's a great location. We just need some smart business people to run it!

went there for breakfast the morning of the fair several weeks ago. First, how do you screw upRead More breakfast order? The young man server was doing his best, but still eggs, potatoes, and hash, no potatoes come, begged for coffee refills, ketchup was the very bottom of a heinz bottle. The excuse was sorry we have a new cook,..something tells me that aint the only problem, how does one screw up breakfast. Sorry wont be going back any time soon, unless I see a new mngment or new owner sign.

. This place is just not good. There is nothing appealing about poor service and absolutely horribleRead More food. It should have stayed closed when it went out of business not long ago. I hope the employees can find another means .
