Readers' Choice: Best Nail Salon in Farmingdale

Time for your close-up: Where do you go for great nails?

Nail salons are an ever-present part of the Farmingdale landscape and inspire passionate followings. Where else can you sip a cup of coffee while getting a hand massage, nail touchup or waxing – all while catching up on the latest gossip?

There’s an intimate relationship one develops over nails. Some of the most important moments in life start with a manicure and fresh coat of polish. Nail technicians become part of the extended family.

Time to weigh in. Farmingdale Patch is looking to unearth the best nail salon in town. Readers’ Choice is a new weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – this week it’s nail salons – and ask for your recommendation. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Wednesday we’ll narrow the field, taking your recommendations to put to a vote in the ultimate mani-pedi poll.

The following week we’ll announce our winner.

I would love to find a place that does the UV gel polish like Shellac where they actually apply suntan lotion on your hands as part of the manicure before baking them under the UV lights to cure the polish...I know they do this outside of NY state. Anyone know of a good, all around clean place where you get your money's worth?

While I have been a customer at both Pink Nails on Main St and Oh Nails & Spa on Merritts Rd - I have found an amazing nail place just outside Fdale in Massapequa called Venus Nails on North Broadway, a few blocks south of the Southern State Pkwy at Exit 30. They do an amazing job with the UV gel nail polish and have lots of colors to choose from. I am unfamiliar with the tanning process that Elizabeth describes above. This place is clean and the service is wonderful - I would not go back to any of the places I previously used anymore. I tried Venus based on a neighbor's recommendation and it continues to be a good decision.

Go to Natural Nails. They use lotion and also offer protective gloves. I have been going here many years and the girls do a fantastic job. The shop is clean and has been undergoing many new updates. Definitely worth the trip.

The best Nail Salon on Long Island is Natural Nails ... The ladies are so nice, sweet and great with what they do . They really do an amazing job from the fill- in to the UV Gel down to the pedicures. The place is very clean, upscale and modern. They have all the stylish colors ! Every where I go people compliment me on my nails . I live in Baldwin Harbor and I don't mind go all the way to Farmingdale to get my nails done its worth it 100%. So on that note ladies I'm truly down with Natural Nails . Carlynn

Beautiful nails - go to Natural Nails!! I have been going to Natural Nails for a number of years now. After several years of going to another salon, I needed a change, I needed my nails to feel comfortable, not like globs of glue (I have silk wraps). I started going to Natural Nails, and my nails look and feel wonderful. As an older lady, I am very particular on how my nails appear. I get so many compliments. But one of the most important things at Natural Nails is that it is so clean, warm and comfortable, and Customer Service is Exceptional! You feel pampered, and that is a really nice feeling in these busy times. Mai has done an outstanding job, together with her mother-in-law in decorating the salon. If you want a clean salon, great customer service, beautiful nails - Natural Nails is the place to go. Momma Jo
