Telephonics Corporation in Farmingdale announced an awarded $60 million multi-year contract with Air Force Life Cycle Management Command (AFLCMC) with the Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts on Oct. 24.
The contract will allow Telephonics, a communication technology defense and commercial institution, to supply Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Interrogator (AN/UPX-40) which supplies real-time, all-weather, all-altitude, air surveillance to monitor friendly, neutral and hostile activity.
IFF will be intergrated into the corporation's USAF E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control (AWACS) aircraft.
“With fifty years experience designing, developing, and delivering IFF systems throughout the world, Telephonics is uniquely qualified to field the most advanced military surveillance radar on the world’s premier airborne surveillance platform in support of the war fighter,” said Kevin McSweeney, Chief Operating Officer of Telephonics Corporation.
