Urban Outfitters Opens At Nearby Whitman Mall

New clothing store caters to those ages 18-30.

Farmingdale fashionistas wanting to spruce up their wardrobe from Urban Outfitters no longer have to trek out to Roosevelt Field.  A two-story Urban Outfitters store opened this week at Walt Whitman Shops, part of the transformation of the mall into a more outward-facing retail space.

The store, which sells clothing and other goods, features exposed beams, a suspended staircase and a scaffolding motif in its dressing rooms. The new 7,892-square foot store is the first Urban Outfitters location in the area and caters to shoppers in the 18-30 age range.

Founded in 1970, Urban Outfitters now operates more than 200 stores in the United States, Canada and Europe.

The store’s hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The company has not been without controversy, as some of its t-shirts and other items have offended a number of groups and led to apologies and withdrawal of the items from the market.
