Village Getting Federal Money for Downtown Improvements

Mangano: $225,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grants have been awarded to the village

The Village of Farmingdale is about to see improvements in the downtown business district.

A total of $225,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grants have been awarded to the village, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced.

“These Federal funds allow my administration to partner with Village of Farmingdale Mayor Ralph Ekstrand for commercial rehabilitation and beautification of the Village’s business district," Mangano said.

The federal money includes new new signs, sign board accessories, building and sign lighting and awnings.

The second phase of the project will focus on improvements to the rear facades and rear entrances of buildings that will include signs, lighting and awnings.

"The Community Development Block Grants are an investment improving Farmingdale’s business district and have acted as a stimulus for new businesses to locate to the village," Ekstrand said. "The residential rehabilitation funds have meant a great deal to improving many of our residents quality of life.”
