Nassau Police Probe Boat Sinking That Killed 3

 Three children died when a boat carrying 27 people capsized late Wednesday night after a fireworks show near Oyster Bay. Nassau County police, who are handling the investigation, said weather, overcrowding or a wake from another passing boat are under investigation as possible factors in the accident.

St. James will soon be the home to a new, unique business – Mancaves. 

“Mancaves is going to be a store that provides man caves for people as well as build man caves for people … [with] anything really cool that has to do with your home,” said owner Dan Silberman. 

Silberman said virtually anything could go in a man cave – a location dedicated to the wants of the man of the household where they could socialize and hang out with friends – from barbecue equipment to pool tables, home theatre equipment and more. The Mancaves owner said the man caves could both be indoors and outdoors. 

Lenny Khazan, a 13-year-old student, has been programming for Apple devices since he was 10, and already has released three apps to the App Store. The soon-to-be eighth grader recently got a huge bite of inspiration from the Apple itself — he had won a scholarship to the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference, granting him access to one of the most renowned tech events of the year.

Greenport-Sag Harbor Ferry Service Begins

The Peconic Bay Water Jitney quietly set out on its maiden voyage last week and will continue to connect Sag Harbor and Greenport every day for the remainder of the season.

Jacqueline Parry was waiting in line on June 14 to buy two $5 scratch-off tickets when a customer in front of her told her not to buy the Ruby Red X12 ticket. "The guy in front of me in line said he didn't have a lot of luck on that particular ticket and said I should buy a different one," explained Parry, 48, of Lynbrook. "Something just told me to buy them anyway and that's exactly what I did." Parry bought two Ruby Red X12 tickets in Rockville Centre, and when she scratched off the second one she purchased, it revealed that she won the $1 million top prize.
