Farmingdale Library Sets Tax Levy

Vote will take place on April 3.

The board has approved a 2012-2013 buget with a tax levy of 1.98 percent, less than the 2 percent recommended by the new tax cap law.

Residents will vote on the budget on April 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the library.

According to Library Director Debbie Podolski's February report to the board, anticipated health insurance increases and other cost increases forced the library to make some cuts for next year.

Some standing resource orders were cancelled if the content was available through online database subscriptions and the library will be using emails rather than print newsletters/mailings to inform residents about announcements.

The public will have the opportunity to offer their input on the budget at the next board meeting on March 20 at 7 p.m.

Important Dates:

March 5 - Deadline to file petitions for library trustee in the Library Director's office.

March 20 - Absentee ballots will be available at the Library Director's office.

March 20 - Board Meeting and Budget Hearing in the Conference Room at 7 p.m.

March 20 - Voter Registration at the Library 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Hate to sound like an old woman, but when it was Von Leeson's it was always a joy to be there. AllRead More the staff had been there for years and treated the customers like family. Food was consistently good and they never "ran out" of anything. This place shouldn't be open for business. The poor kid waiting on us last time had to come to me and tell me they had no dessert to have with coffee other than ice cream. We left him a nice tip and I told him to find a job somewhere else; he'd never make any money there. It's a great location. We just need some smart business people to run it!

The young man server was doing his best, but still eggs, potatoes, and hash, no potatoes come, begged for coffee refills, ketchup was the very bottom of a heinz bottle. The excuse was sorry we have a new cook,..something tells me that aint the only problem, how does one screw up breakfast. Sorry wont be going back any time soon, unless I see a new mngment or new owner sign.

. This place is just not good. There is nothing appealing about poor service and absolutely horribleRead More food. It should have stayed closed when it went out of business not long ago. I hope the employees can find another means .
