If you own a car, then you've probably spent time at the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
They handle everything from driver licenses and ID cards to vehicle registration, renewals and transfers. Want vanity plates? DMV handles those too.
In other words, DMV is a rite of passage.
But how long one spends at the state-run office can also be a memorable, sometimes unpleasant experience.
This Patch reporter did just that Wednesday afternoon at the Huntington DMV at the Big H. It was crowded, but I was in and out in 45 minutes.
Farmingdale residents can choose the Huntington location or DMVs in Massapequa (927 Carmans Road) or Bethpage (4031 Hempstead Turnpike).
Which begs the question: How is the wait time at your DMV?
