Hundreds of same-sex couples will march down the aisle at on Tuesday at noon.
The marriage ceremony will take place at the park's Carlyle on the Green restaurant. More than 1,000 guests and friends will witness the same-sex couples get married at what is being called "the largest same-sex wedding taking place in the State of New York."
New York State Sen. Malcolm Smith will join the couples at the event, which is being hosted by the Long Island Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Network, an association of five non-profits that serve Long Island’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
The ceremony and reception immediately to follow the event are being fully donated by Carlyle on the Green as a public service.
The Network is considers itself the largest suburban GLBT organization in the nation, helping more than 75,000 people annually. The organizations in the network work to end homophobia, provide a home and a safe space for the GLBT community and advocate for equality under the law.
